KT and RSA Secure Korean Mobiles

Korea's leading telecoms operator has joined with RSA Security and Cyclops in launching the bizmeka User Authentication Service.

The backbone is RSA Security's RSA SecurID two-factor authentication software.

Using the new softwar, users on KT's CDMA mobile phone service can secure e-commerce transactions. Using their phones they will be able to generate unique one-time passcodes.

By providing this service, KT expects we can help consumers to robustly protect their online assets, said Jong-Jin Chae, Senior Vice President, bizmeka Team, KT. "We are proud to be the first telecommunications company in Asia to offer this extraordinary security protection solution to Korean CDMA mobile phone users."

Once users join the bizmeka User Authentication Service and log in to an e-business or online banking account, they will be required to enter a passcode. Using RSA Security's patented authentication technology, their mobile phone generates an eight-digit code that changes every 60 seconds. This unique, one-time passcode is used to positively identity the user. A valid authentication completes the log-in and users can then access Internet services such as e-banking and online gaming. If the code is not validated by the system, the user is denied access.
