Thomson in QAI Acquisition

Thomson Corporation has signed an agreement for to acquire a Quantitative Analytics, Inc. (QAI). A vendor of financial database integration and analysis solutions, the firms products are used by 200 investment firms.

QAI tools provide securities selection, modeling, back-testing, portfolio construction and trading strategy development.

Multiple data sources, including customer data are integrated into a single database of financial information. QAI then supply a suite of analytical tools to mine the database for insights and trading ideas.

QAI offerings include MarketQA, FastTick and FastTick RT. WebQA a QAI product currently under development.

Thomson obtains the ability to offer integrated, multi-asset class workflow solutions.

QAI's management team and employees will become part of the Investment Management segment of Thomson Financial.

Both parties expect to close the deal shortly following regulatory approval. Financial details were not disclosed.
