President Bush has nominated two Democrats to the Securities and Exchange Commission. Roel Campos has been nominated for a second term. SEC market regulation division director Annette Nazareth has been named as the other nomination. The SEC has five members. Rep. Christopher Cox was nominated as the replacement for William Donaldson last month as SEC Chairman. The Senate Banking Committee is due for hearings on the nominations on Tuesday. Should Campos's nomination go through he will have served on the SEC from 2002-2010. President Bush was required to nominate two democrats under legislation designed to maintain political balance on public bodies. Nazareth would be a replacement for Harvey Goldschmid. Mr Goldschmid had been a close ally of Mr Donaldson, even though Donaldson was a Republican. |
