The SEC is to start its review of the effect of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act on smaller companies. Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) Chairman William Donaldson announced the move yesterday. 19 accountants, executives and academics have been appointed to the outside panel. Previously the SEC has announced a public meeting in April. In this instance, small means a market value of less than $75m. In particular the committee will look at the claims that some provisions are too costly and and only provide minimal benefits to investors. |
